The following content is for the Edexcel Specification only.
Note: I only teach Pure Maths and not Mechanics or Statistics.
Edexcel A-Level Mathematics – Overview
- A two-year linear qualification (all exams at the end of Year 13).
- Designed for students who achieved well in GCSE Mathematics (typically Grade 6+).
- Provides a deep grounding in pure mathematics, with applications in statistics and mechanics.
- Widely required for STEM degrees (engineering, physics, computer science, economics)
Assessment
- Three exams at the end of Year 13 (all 2 hours, equally weighted).
- Pure Mathematics 1 (100 marks)
- Pure Mathematics 2 (100 marks)
- Statistics & Mechanics (50 marks each)
- No coursework.
- Calculators are allowed in all papers (e.g., Casio ClassWiz recommended).
