The following content is for the Edexcel Specification only.

Note: I only teach Pure Maths and not Mechanics or Statistics.


Edexcel A-Level Mathematics – Overview

  • A two-year linear qualification (all exams at the end of Year 13).
  • Designed for students who achieved well in GCSE Mathematics (typically Grade 6+).
  • Provides a deep grounding in pure mathematics, with applications in statistics and mechanics.
  • Widely required for STEM degrees (engineering, physics, computer science, economics)



Assessment

  • Three exams at the end of Year 13 (all 2 hours, equally weighted).
  1. Pure Mathematics 1 (100 marks)
  2. Pure Mathematics 2 (100 marks)
  3. Statistics & Mechanics (50 marks each)
  • No coursework.
  • Calculators are allowed in all papers (e.g., Casio ClassWiz recommended).
